Bearded Whiskey is an Americana folk & roots band based out of Danville, Virginia. Multi-instrumentalists Andrew Adkins & Chris Stockard met at an open mic event in Milton, North Carolina and later performed in a production of “Smoke on the Mountain” at the Kirby Theatre in Roxboro, North Carolina
Andrew plays the guitar, harmonica, drum, tambourine & the occasional banjo tune. Chris plays the mandolin, banjo guitar. Some of the band’s influences include Hank Williams Sr, Towns Van Zandt, Benjamin Todd & Jimmie Rodgers.
“I’ve always had a strong interest in older country and bluegrass,” Adkins says, “I would play along with albums of the Carter Family, Johnny Cash, Roy Acuff, and many more. I’ve been performing for others for the last couple years.”
“I’ve been playing music since the summer of fifth-grade year. My aunt got me into music with a recorder flute. Then I picked up a saxophone, then a drumstick and the rest is history,” Stockard chuckles.
Bearded Whiskey has performed for events such as Danville’s Food Truck Rodeo and Bright Leaf Brewfest.
You can find Bearded Whiskey playing at Ballad Brewing, 2 Witches & other local venues throughout Danville and North Carolina. They have two upcoming gigs: one in Halifax County & one in Afton, VA.
